MY BORDER COLLIES
by Tri Cities Border Collies

They fetch my frisbee when I throw it away.
They smile when I am sad.
They find me when I hide.

When I play my music, they don’t hold their ears.
They love the “treats” I throw away.
My memory is fading, but theirs gets better every day.

They know the sound of my car and never bark.
But when the UPS truck comes, they both sound their horns.
Just like me, they get old, but age only makes them better.

I don’t have sheep for them to herd, but they don’t care a bit.
The sound of my diesel tractor turns them on
and round and round they go.

Some say they can speak, and they do in their own way.
Their words are filled with joy from the love they get each day.
Reading and writing beside the point, vocabulary their mainstay.

Border Collies are family dogs, full of pride from their front porch.
So, my friends, ask me again about my grands, but don’t forget my dogs.
My Border Collies are the joy of my life. Love and love gives back.
